How Understanding Sex Offenders Can Help You Understand Your Covert Narcissist: A Deep Dive into the DARVO Pathology

Following the interest in my previous post on “An Introduction to DARVO,” I’ve decided to do a more comprehensive exploration of this fascinating and insightful concept in the hope that it will give you the ability to recognise the often subtle yet predatory behaviours exhibited by Covert Narcissists.

In this article, I will explore the startling similarities between Covert Narcissists and sex offenders, the commonalities in their pathologies, and the development of coping strategies in line with DARVO. It is important to note that this doesn’t mean Covert narcissists are sex offenders and vice versa.

It’s important to add a disclaimer here. While drawing a parallel between the psychological tactics used by sex offenders and covert narcissists, this is not to equate the experiences of their victims. The violation suffered by victims of sexual offences is unique, intensely personal, and deeply traumatising. This comparison is merely intended to shed light on the similar manipulative strategies used by both groups and the ensuing psychological impact.
