The Vulnerable Narcissist exhibits certain traits that differ subtly yet significantly form the better know Grandiose Narcissist. The key traits are as follows:
Insecure: Vulnerable narcissists are deeply insecure individuals. They often suffer from low self-esteem and a fragile self-image, leading them to feel inadequate and inferior.
Hypersensitive: These individuals are highly sensitive to criticism and rejection. Even mild criticism can deeply affect them, leading to feelings of hurt, anger, and defensiveness. They may interpret criticism as a personal attack.
Self-Doubt: Vulnerable narcissists are plagued by self-doubt and self-criticism. They may constantly second-guess themselves and their abilities, which can result in a lack of self-confidence.
