The Trophy Partner- Narcissists have very fragile egos and look for outside validation and objects to make themselves look good. Narcissists love new and flashy toys, and sadly they view their partners like toys too. Narcissists feel empty on the inside so they look for people, positions, and material things to give them status and stroke their fragile egos. A beautiful, successful, wealthy individual will temporarily fill the narcissist on the inside, but they are always looking out for the next best thing. No trophy is shiny enough for the narcissist to display on their mantel forever. Obviously, narcissists are drawn to physically attractive partners with pretty faces and sculpted bodies. Just having a pretty face will probably not be enough for many narcissists; the ideal partner is a complete package that they deem worthy to show off. What does that mean? You need to be pretty, smart, successful, financially secure, funny, kind, and established. If you feel shame or like your self-esteem has taken a hit after dating or being married to a narcissist, remember they like to go after the best of the best.

The Giver- Narcissist and needy are synonyms. They usually ask way too much from their partners. Narcissists on the inside are like little children, and some did have rough childhoods where their emotional and physical needs were not met. Many narcissists will treat their mate like their mother and will even look for the ideal mother figure in their partner. A narcissist will latch on to someone who is generous with gifts, time, money…
