What Is At The Fragile Core Of The Narcissist?
Narcissists, especially the grandiose and malignant kinds, appear to be anything but fragile. They tend to present as confident, loud, cocky, arrogant, and mean. You know the type, the CEO of the company, the guy in the flashy suit at the bar, the influencer with thousands of followers, the star athlete… Them? Fragile and insecure? Well actually yes!….Like the old saying goes… Looks can be deceiving, and that could not apply more to Narcissists. Narcissists should be tattooed with that saying on their forehead, that kind of warning would save so many people so much heartache.
So how can such aggressive, loud, seemingly confident people have fragile and insecure interiors? These are the Narcissists’ coping mechanisms to hide their true self. They go to the other extreme to compensate for what they are at the core which is weak, insecure, and vulnerable. They use the unbecoming traits of narcissism such as being grandiose, rageful, and charismatic to mask who they really are on the inside. These behaviours help them to get what they want or to portray their ideal image.
