How was your Valentine’s Day? The day of love, romance, flowers and chocolates has just passed, and your Valentine’s Day gifts can tell you a great deal of information about the type of narcissist that you have in your life and the motives behind their behaviours. Remember, unfortunately, there is usually something behind the kindness or generosity of the narcissist. Please do not think that they are changing, improving, or becoming less self-centred because they bought you a Valentine’s Day gift.

The expensive, flashy extravagant gift. The grandiose narcissist typically gives this gift. The grandiose narcissist tends to gift jewellery, expensive electronics, exotic art, and other big-ticket fancy or flashy items. They will probably post a picture of you with your gift on social media. Why? Because it makes them look like a generous and loving partner when they go all out on your Valentine’s Day gift. The price tag probably is still left on the package too! The grandiose narcissist wants others to see what a wonderful gift-giver they are. This makes them look good. You may not even have any interest in, like, or understand why they would give you this kind of gift, but that’s because It is not about you, it is about them, and their gift shows this!
